Trying AD? Potential move as a guild?

Post by Tygos on Fri May 01, 2015 12:34 am

In guild chat we talked briefly about potentially trying out AD to see if we like it or not as a guild, like the cartel and regiment did, due to Defias lack of rpers as it seems right now.

So I decided to put it in a forum post were we can vote yes and no and express our feelings.

In my opinion I would say moving to AD could be good as it have just a the numbers on us player wise and they actually have a active roleplay hub, I could log on to my gnome and be roleplaying with in 1 or 2 minuets after logging on.

let the posting and expressing of opinions begin

Zui's post wrote:I will put what Zui wrote in his post here as well as it was good and stuff, well done Zui

"Yes, It's time. Time to bring up the topic that makes some people cringe and others just shrug.

The Band has lost a lot of people lately. The overall activity is falling. There's no recruitment. We sit in Draenor like outcasts.

It's time this proposition is made. As someone who has tested RP on Argent Dawn, I propose we slowly start moving our assets. Either through leveling or paid transfers. It doesn't have to happen immediately. We could just make lvl 30-40 copies of our fav chars and give it a test drive. I believe this may be one of the more obvious ways of saving the guild from slow, excruciating extinction. AD has a much greater player base. You take a walk through SW and you can hardly believe how many people there are if you never been to the server before. And there are plenty more RPing out in the wilds. Recruitment would be a piece of cake compared to DB, which has strongly resembled a corpse of progressively decreasing freshness for some time now.

To make this easier, we could dedicate a couple of days to farming the BoA 300% exp flasks to ease the transition for those who are especially afraid of the leveling. Yes, not everyone can afford to pay a transfer. Yes, leveling anew would void most of your garrison and gear collection achievements. But is that really such a high cost to pay for the survival of the guild?

Discuss. Stay civil, there is no need to point names and call fingers if points of view start clashing."

Personally i feel that defias alliance side is dying.....it is just dead. A fresh start over at AD would do us good. Plus no more dickish pvpers Very Happy

I am all up for trying it out, cause i know i will only transfer 2 characters if it happens. Sylvaria and Mei. And if the hills are greener on AD il gladly dish out the cash to move over there and see BOTB raise to greatness again

The only problem DB people will likely have on AD is the... Non-standard approach to RP some people show. One would need to learn to just slap some people on ignore on the spot. Otherwise, you may be in for some very weird experiences. In a bad way. Obviously, anyone sane would need to stay away from Goldshire and, apparently, Terrordale in Plaguelands.

Meh who needs to slap when you can build a /ignore automatic rifle and just await the horde of bad rpers....and don't remind me of goldshire, i still have nightmares of the time i took a bet socialising with ppl in goldshire inn for 5 hours....

it would need us to be creative and make a new guild name but thats hardly a challenge for our creative minds right? xD

and yes Terrordale and Goldshire are bad on AD unless you like some EXTREME ROLEPLAY!

I will just add that... People might still think DB is salvageable. But that's because we've been sitting here in Draenor, cut off from the rest of the world. We didn't really care about what goes on with RP on Azeroth. It's bad. I do not believe that 4-5 guilds can save it. There are just too few RPers left on the realm. And collaborating to create RP just prolongs the inevitable. This is strictly my opinion, of course.

Ardy. A few select words. 1. You left the band thus have no say (why are you even still here)
2. I actually if I get lead plan to interact more with other guilds to bring general rp back. Half the reason people in the braves stopped logging on is simply there bored. Unless you 1. Come back to the braves and 2 provide constructive criticism above " I don't like him" then please kindly fuck off

Mon, do keep it civil, as I have already asked. Sure, Ardy's criticism is unexplained and not really helpful in any way, but let's not turn this into a flame war. Ardy, since you're a veteran of BoTB you -do- have a say, but I ask that you keep to constructive criticism. "Mon will kill the guild" will just not do without you explaining why, in your opinion, it will happen. And again, Mon, please refrain from harsh language. We survived to page 2 without it.

Edited out. I was being too aggressive.

As for AD... It's a good place, mainly because it's so much bigger, so you have so much more RP to choose from. There is RP literally everywhere. From my experience, your first impression counts for a lot. The Forlorn Cartel garnered an awful lot of hate on the AD forums from people who had unsurprisingly bad encounters with them, whereas Stormwind Regiment were welcomed with open arms. To summarise: don't be stupid.

I will be harsh if attacked, it was deflaminatory and an attempt to denial my name claiming I'm unfit to lead. That sort of attitude is one of the reasons we have lost so many members lately. An attitude I won't tolerate

I must say though, Mon, I can't help but wonder, how are you going to lead when you repeatedly stated that you barely have time to even RP? Leading a guild is rather time-consuming. And logging on for a couple of hours in the later evenings just... In 90% of the cases it just isn't enough.

Re: Trying AD? Potential move as a guild?

Post by Nexiax on Sat May 02, 2015 11:09 am

I've voted no here. The primary reason is because I'm tight with my money and don't want to spend however much it is for a transfer. Nor do i want to level another warrior alt on AD.

However, I also dislike AD as I find it too large. I prefer the smaller, tightly nit realm of Defias Brotherhood/Ravenholdt + co as I personally again find it easier to keep track of the RP which is going around. In big events like the council meetings that Defias had, I found it difficult to keep track on what was happening so I usually got bored and ended up doing something else. From my experience, the sheer number of people in AD make it difficult to keep an idea of what's going on, especially during one of their events.

Lastly, and this is more focused around the whole "RP on Defias is Dying!". Whilst the RP might indeed be dying, perhaps rather than jumping ship we should try and attract newer RPers to Defias/Ravenholdt + co, and to the various different guilds that we have on our server.

Anyway, just my two cents.
